Beverly Jean Trundle

Beverly Jean Trundle, 76, of Hiawatha, KS, passed away at her home November 13, 2017. She was born the youngest of four daughters July 7, 1941 at Holton, KS to Melvin and Lennie (Wolfe) Coates.

Beverly was raised in Netawaka, KS and attended Netawaka schools. After graduating high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Leonard L. Trundle, on November 25, 1959 in Netawaka, KS. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this month.

While married she worked at a waitress at the Wetmore Café in Wetmore, KS. After making their home in rural Hiawatha, she then received her med aide license and worked at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha, KS. Beverly also worked at Casey’s General Store and was known as “The Great Baker” at the Hiawatha Inn. She had also worked for Dave’s IGA in Hiawatha.

Her wealth was her 7 children, 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Born in the union were 4 boys, Ronald Trundle of Reserve, KS, Kenneth Trundle (Jessie) of Hiawatha, KS, Toby Trundle (Alice) of Horton, KS, Timothy Trundle (Rachel) of Gouvernour, NY; 3 daughters, Rachelle Sailors (Matt) of Falls City, NE, LaTasha Trundle of Dodge City, KS and Talia Harris of Kirksville, MO and 2 adopted granddaughters, Amber Trundle of Sabetha, KS and Ashley Rhyne of Hiawatha, KS.

Beverly’s hobbies included collecting reading any type of cookbook there was, finding new recipes to try. She was an amazing cook and loved putting picture puzzles together.

Beverly is survived by her true love, of the home, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Janice Swain of Decatur, AL and Phyllis Cummins of Walterboro, SC.

She was preceded in death by Baby Trundle, who passed away during pregnancy; her parents and a sister, June Mitchell.

Beverly’s wishes were to be cremated. No services will be held. A private family gathering will take place to celebrate her life. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
