Vern O. McKinsey, 91, of Onaga, KS passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Onaga Hospital. He was born January 27, 1926 in Soldier, the son of Otto Ross and Stella (Peasley) McKinsey.

Vern graduated from Soldier High School in 1943. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. In Vern’s earlier years, he drove a Pepsi Truck and worked for Havensville Lumber Yard. Vern later worked for Michigan/Wisconsin Pipeline for 30 years before he retired.

He married Dolores Jean McClacherty on June 26, 1945 in Holton. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2010. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Starr.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Kocher (John) of Onaga, KS; a son, Alan McKinsey (Janet) of Onaga, KS; a sister, Bessie Swain of Holton, KS; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends after the service.
