Betty June Ganzel, 89 of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Premier Estates, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  She was born on November 6, 1927 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Lawrence Henry and Mildred Luella (Ferguson) Bock.

Betty married Ronald “Mike” Ganzel on August 11, 1946.  To this union 4 children were born.

Betty was a long time member of Pawnee City United Methodist Church. Betty was courtesy chairperson for many years at the United Methodist Church.  Betty and Mike taught Sunday School class for young married couples in the 70’s and 80’s. She was a member of Ruth Circle, United Methodist Women , holding different offices throughout the many years.  She was a pillar in the Pawnee City United Methodist church family.

Betty was a member of P.E.O for 60 years.

Betty was an avid Husker fan for all the Nebraska sports. She loved dogs, any kind of pet, crafts and traveling.

Betty was a devoted wife and mother. She always put others ahead of herself.  She was a role model for the community and extended open arms to everyone. She, along with her husband Mike, inspired family and community members to achieve higher education. As a result, all of their children and grandchildren and many students achieved bachelor, masters and doctorate degrees.

Preceded in death by son Michael Ganzel.

She is survived by her husband Ronald W. “Mike” Ganzel, daughter: Anita and husband William Krondak, sons; Dr. Brian and wife Dr. Toni Ganzel, Terry, CAPT, JAGC,USN, (Ret) and wife Rhoda Ganzel, CDR, JAGC, USN, (RET) ,seven grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Services 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2017 at the United Methodist Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Officiating Reverend Sherry Sklenar.  Visitation on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Private family interment, at Oteo Cemetery, Oteo, Nebraska. Memorials to Pawnee City United Methodist Church or P.E.O. Chapter AV.
