Lawrence “Deek” Deeken, 96, of St. Joseph, Missouri formerly of Wathena, Kansas died Friday, August 25, 2017.

Lawrence was born on August 13, 1921 in Wathena, Kansas to Matthew and Mary (Gabriel) Deeken. He was a Navy Veteran of the USNTS HedRon, FAW2 from 1944-1946, receiving medals of Victory, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal. Lawrence retired from Armours. He loved to dance, play cards and be around his entire family. His smile and good nature will be missed by many. Hospice services provided by Three Rivers. He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Lawrence “Bill” Deeken, wives, Eileen (Shalz) Deeken, Joan (Thomas) Deeken, Beulah (Hass) Deeken, children, Tresa Miller, Leroy, Frankie & Phillip Hass, a brother, Albert.He is survived by daughters, Elaine Maddox, Marti Sartain and son’s, Tom Athens and Bill Hass, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren.

MASS: Tuesday, August 29, 2017 – 10:00 A.M. At: St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Joseph, Missouri Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wathena Prayer Service: Monday evening 6:00 PM at the Harman Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, with family visitation to follow.
