Neola L. Wood Risinger, 86, Perry, formerly of Valley Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at a Topeka care facility.
 
 She was born Feb. 19, 1931, at Denison, the daughter of Harold E. and Grace Ferrell Scarlett. She graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1949.

Neola owned and operated Valley Falls Barber Shop for 37 years. She was a member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church and had attended the Valley Falls Christian Church.

She married Norman Wood, Aug. 26, 1948, at Fayetteville, AR. He died Aug. 13, 1961. She was a homemaker in Denison and then moved to Valley Falls with her children in 1963. She married Carl Risinger, June 5, 1965, at Valley Falls. He died Aug. 20, 2014.

She was also preceded in death by a son in infancy, Jerry Lee Wood; two brothers, Devere and Everett Scarlett; and three sisters, Arlene Gier, Marilyn Kesinger, and Jane Etzel.

Survivors include two sons, Charles (Kathy) Wood, Olathe, and Roger (Ruth) Wood, Meriden; a daughter, Renae (Andy) Pritchard, Perry; four brothers, Marlin Scarlett, Sabetha, Harlin and Gary Scarlett, both of Topeka, and John Scarlett, Wellsville; three sisters, Anita Graham, Meriden, Leota Bolz, Topeka, and Helen Gibson, Rapid City, SD; 11 grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug.19, 2017, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will be at the Denison Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday.
