Robert Steven Ferguson, 64, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed on Thursday, June 22, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas. Interment will follow in Mt. Gillin Cemetery south of Atchison. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, June 27th from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Robert was the fourth son born to Wilbur and Shirley Beadles Ferguson of Route #1, Atchison, Kansas. He attended Sumner and Potter Elementary Schools and graduated from Atchison County Community High School, Effingham, Kansas. He attended Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, Missouri. As a youth, Robert was active in the Sumner Saddle Club, 4-H, and a member of FFA (Future Farmers of America).

Robert was strong in his faith and lived it out daily.

Robert served his country in the United States Army.

Robert worked at Paige Airways, Fort Leavenworth Commissary, and currently at the Veterans Hospital in Leavenworth as a painter. He also had a Home Improvement business, doing dry wall repair, painting, and building decks.

He loved raising cattle, farming, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. Robert was always happy to give a stray cat a new home. His favorite holidays were July 4th and Christmas. Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Myrtha Ferguson and their son John Ferguson of Leavenworth, KS; three brothers, Wilbur (Ellen) Ferguson, Lansing, KS; Victor (Faye) Ferguson, Atchison, KS; David (Lynn) Ferguson, Overland Park, KS; two sisters, Lillian (Dick) Bennett, Topeka, KS; Kathy (Larry) Cooper, Nashville, TN; two aunts, LaVeta Ferguson, Atchison, KS; Esther (Maurice) Jones, Topeka, KS; sister-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family wishes to extend endless gratitude and appreciation to the workers at the Veterans Hospital in Leavenworth, and all the family and friends.
