Janet Louise Christie, 86, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

She was born on September 10, 1930 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Otho Clifton and Mary Izetta Sleppy Small.
Janet was a member of the Muscotah United Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid Royals fan and enjoyed watching all the games. On June 19, 1949 she married Jesse E. Christie in Hiawatha, Kansas. Janet was a homemaker and helped her husband with J.C. Polled Herefords on the family farm. Jesse preceded her in death on September 29, 1991.

Survivors include a sister, Lucille (Bill) Brown of Muscotah, Kansas; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Christie, Jesse Christie and Jennifer Christie: 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, James Lee Christie on September 25, 1999, three sisters, Ruth Anna Speer, Shirley Swendson and Marilyn Oaks.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Muscotah Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Janet Christie memorial fund to be designated later and may sent in care of the mortuary.
