Gary Roy Thompson, 60, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at his home.

He was born on February 22, 1957 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Arlen and Helen Horner Thompson.

Gary graduated from Troy High School in 1975. He worked as a farmhand, electrician for the City of Horton, Al's Motor Service, was a self employed electrician before going to work for the Golden Eagle Casino as a Slot Tech. He was a member of the Horton Fish and Game Club.

On June 30, 2001 he married Beth Volle in Horton, Kansas. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include 3 sons, Kevin (Isela) Thompson of Hertford, North Carolina, Steven Thompson of Atchison, Kansas and Jason Thompson of Topeka, Kansas; two daughters, Trina (Keith) Koch of Hiawatha, Kansas and Heather Thompson of Horton, Kansas; 2 step daughters, Krystina Volle of Falls City, Nebraska and Heather(Terrance) Wisdom of Hiawatha, Kansas; brother, Tim (Carolyn) Thompson of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Debbie (Jeff) Hower of Altamont, Missouri; 12 grandchildren and 1 on the way; special canine babies, Joe, Brandy, Pety, Susie and missing in action, Little Bit.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janet Reeves.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Troy, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Gary Thompson memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
