Gayleen Zentner, 84, of Falls City, NE, passed away April 24, 2017 at Falls City. She was born January 5, 1933 at Shubert to Kenneth and Hazel (Rase) Wilson.

On July 20, 1958 she married Lewis Zentner at Falls City.

Gayleen was raised in Shubert and Falls City, graduating Falls City High School in 1950. She then attended Peru State Teachers College and obtained a teaching certificate that summer and began teaching at Cupola Rural School north of Verdon. She graduated from Peru State Teachers College in 1957 with a teaching degree and taught school in Lincoln, NE for a year before marrying and moving to a farm northeast of Salem, NE. She taught school at Five Point School and Salem School for a year each before taking leave for the birth of their first daughter. When Brenda began kindergarten she started teaching first grade at North School in Falls City until retiring from teaching to help manage her and her husband’s Vermeer Business. She retired in 2003 and the couple moved into Falls City. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (20th & Towle), Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, as well as church wedding coordinator, Morning Circle of the church, helped with numerous quilting projects and a member of Fairview Club.

Gayleen is survived by her husband Lewis of Falls City, daughters, Brenda Vampola and her husband Kenneth of Arlington, NE, Valorie Zentner and her fiancé, Randy Cramer of Omaha, NE, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Jean Kechely and a brother in infancy, Elwin Dean Wilson.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Andrew Chavanak officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
