Al Scheuerman, 79, of Hiawatha, died Saturday evening, February 11, 2017, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Al was born March 2, 1937, at Bison, KS, one of two sons born to Roy and Edith Cheney Scheuerman.  Al moved with his family as a child where they settled in San Diego, CA where he grew up and graduated high school.  Al served in the US Army for a time and upon discharge, went to work as a lineman for SDGE (San Diego Gas & Electric).  He worked for them 34 years before retiring.

Al was proud of his service to his country.  He also was proud to continue the tradition his father started of being a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He married Linda L. Harvey over 30 years ago in Alpine, CA.  Al being from Kansas, they settled in Hiawatha over 20 years ago to make their home.  They enjoyed wintering in Arizona for a number of years.  Linda died May 26, 2016.

Survivors include two sons:  Jeff Konig (Kim) of Omaha, Nebraska, Brad Konig of Sabetha; two daughters Katie Belflower (Marcus), also of Sabetha, Cheryl Johnson (Blake) of Magalia, California; his mother Edith Scheuerman of Hiawatha; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.

Al was preceded in death by his father Roy; and a brother Duane who died 4 years ago.

Cremation is planned.  A reflection of Al’s life is planned for Saturday, March 11, at his home, 210 Sioux in Hiawatha, from 12noon until 4 p.m., for a time of remembering and sharing stories of both Al and Linda.
