John E. Webster, 77, of Holton, KS passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at The Pines in Holton. He was born December 15, 1939 in Leon, KS the son of Harvey and Zetta (Burris) Webster.

John attended Cedarville Country School and had attended Sedan High School. He had spent most of his life in the Jackson and Atchison communities. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for Schmidtlein Excavating, retiring in 2002. He was also a lifelong farmer. John was a member of the Operators Union #101 in Kansas City, Missouri.

He married June Cattrell, they later divorced. He later married Judy Cobb on February 23, 1972 in Holton. Survivors include 3 sons, Harvey Webster (Angela) of Holton, KS, John Webster, Jr. and Michael Webster; 2 daughters, Rebecca Webster-Zishka (David) of Leavenworth, KS and Dawn Scarlett of Atchison, KS; 2 brothers, William Webster of Netawaka, KS and Thomas Webster of Whiting, KS; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Judy and 2 brothers, James and Daniel Webster.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Muscotah Cemetery.
