Lester G. Nelson, 91, of Falls City, NE passed away January 18, 2017 at Falls City, NE. He was born September 11, 1925 at Oakland, NE to the late George and Amy (Johnson) Nelson.

Lester was drafted into the U.S. Army on September 21, 1945 and was honorably discharged on February 6, 1947. While serving he earned a World War II Victory Medal and an Army of Occupation Medal.

He married Anna Mangold on February 16, 1948 at Falls City. She later passed away on March 18, 2012.

Lester was raided in Oakland, NE and graduated from Oakland High School in 1942. After high school he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Upon discharged he moved to Craig, NE and farmed. When married the couple made their home on a farm near Oakland until moving to a farm near Falls City in 1956 where he farmed, operated a grain bin, and a Farm Building Construction Company. He was also a master plumber and electrician. He retired in 2010. The couple enjoyed traveling throughout the United States to visit relatives. He is a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20th and Towle.

Lester is survived by daughter, Barbara Watlington and her husband Michael of Falls City; brothers, Howard Nelson and his wife Carol of Virginia; Kenneth Nelson and his wife Joyce of Lakeland, FL; sisters, Marie Crom of Blair, NE; Phyllis Barth and her husband Glen of Elkhorn, NE; grandchildren, Mark Watlington and his wife Satin of Stillwater, MN; John Watlington and his wife Jo of Falls City; great-grandchildren, Carter, Pierson, and Jacob. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, great-grandson, Sean Watlington, and a brother in infancy.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20th and Towle, with Pastor Andrew Chavanak officiating.

Family will receive friends on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Dorr and Clark Funeral Home from 7:00-8:00 P.M.
