Marjorie A. Steinlage, 88, of Corning, Kansas died peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia.

Marjorie was born on January 7, 1929 to Frank and Anna Meyer Burdiek, on a farm south of Seneca. She attended Kelly Grade school and graduated from Kelly High School in 1947.

Marjorie married Francis Steinlage on November 28, 1950 at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. They lived northeast of Corning, where they farmed, raised livestock and operated a dairy. They moved into Corning in November of 1996. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2004.

Marjorie was a stay home mom, until her kids were all enrolled in school; and then she went to work for the school’s lunch program from 1970 to 1991.

Marjorie was an avid bingo player and card player; she sewed many comforters, loved to garden and can the fruits of her labor.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning and the Altar Society, and the Corning American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors are her children; a son, Dale (Geri) of Corning; four daughters, Dorothy (Gary) Becker of Centralia, Janet (Tim) Hiltibrand of Corning, Donna (Allan) Haverkamp of Auburn and Joyce (Bill) Boeckman of Goff; a sister, Bernice Glover of Salina; and a brother, Edgar Burdiek of Topeka; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren, with one due in April.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Chari Steinlage on April 9, 1970, and Shirley Weinert on April 9, 1983; a sister, Imelda Skoch; and brothers, Nobert, Leonard, Francis, Regis and Wilbur.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday, January 19, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A rosary will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM  on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Memorials will be designated at a later date.
