Louis Edwin Millenbruch, 87, of Winfield, KS passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Winfield Senior Living. He was born January 6, 1930 on the Pottawatomi Indian Reservation near Mayetta, KS to George Edwin and Dorothy Edith (Starkey) Millenbruch.

Louis attended grade school in a one room country school and graduated from Holton High School in 1947. He attended a trade school for electronics in Kansas City.

 On September 1951 he was drafted into the United States Army. Most of the time was spent in a Mash Unit in Korea. In September 1953, he was honorably discharged.

 On September 2, 1955, Louis married Ada Jean McCauley at the First Christian Church in Holton. To this union was born a son, Louis “Buddy” Millenbruch, Jr.

 He worked for Midwest Construction Co., building bridges for the State of Kansas. After trade school, he repaired televisions at Jayhawk Music in Holton. Louis was hired by IBM in Topeka in 1956. From there he moved 24 times. He attended school in San Jose. Then he worked in St. Louis, San Francisco, Kansas City, St. Joseph, Topeka, Poughkeepsie, the space center in Houston and Colorado Springs where he retired after 34 years with IBM. He then moved to Winfield.

While living in St. Jose he was Scout Master for Troop 8. He took the troop to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico-twice. Louis’s hobbies include golf, wood working and traveling. He has been to forty-nine states, all but Alaska. While in Hong Kong, he went to Sydney and Singapore as an instructor. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Ira “Corky” Millenbruch and Paul Millenbruch who passed January 14, 2017.

 Survivors include his wife, Ada Millenbruch of the home; his son, Louis “Buddy” Millenbruch, Jr. (Vicky) of Imperial, MO; a sister, Carolyn Rice of Murphy, NC; a sister-in-law, Karen Millenbruch of Hoyt, KS; 2 grandsons, Jason Millenbruch (Laura) of Katy, TX and Jeff Millenbruch (Lindsay) of Stewartville, MO; 4 great-grandchildren, Colby, Molly, Hudson and Beau and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside Service with Military Honors will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Mercer Funeral Home and proceed in procession to the Holton Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be given to charity of Donor’s Choice c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
