Leone Maye Elkins

Leone Maye Elkins, 76, of Horton, Kansas passed away on December 5, 2016 at the Mission Village Living Center in Horton, Kansas.

She was born on October 5, 1940 in Hiawatha, Kansas the daughter of Samuel L. and Evelyn L. (Crowner) Potter.

Leone worked as a Day Care Provider raising many children, prior to going to work for the City of Horton as a Clerk and the Knudson's Jewelry Store. She was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, ESA Sorority and received the Saint Barbara's Spouse Award.

On December 14, 1958 she married Marvin "Minnie" Elkins in Hiawatha, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Janice Morris and Betty Sechler, two brothers, Billy Raye Potter during infancy and Allen Potter.

Survivors include a daughter, Angie Heaton of Horton, Kansas; sister, Nila (Glenn) Cook of Horton, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.

 A Prayer Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. A Rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary with visitation to follow. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery.
