Elmer “Dale” Foster, 78, of Auburn, Nebraska formerly of Salt Lake City, Utah was born on August 21, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alonzo and Bertha (Wilson) Foster.  He was raised in Salt Lake City where attended school graduating from West High School with the class of 1955.  After graduation, Dale enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during The Korean Conflict until being honorably discharged.  In 1957, Dale was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Hayner in Salt Lake City, Utah.  To this union five children Steven, Kevin, Al, Tonya, and Preston were born.  Dale worked for and retired from Union Pacific Railroad where he was a Carmen and later a Master Welder.  Dale was an outdoorsman.   Whether it was hunting, fishing, or riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, he loved to be outside.  But, above all, Dale loved and cherished his family.  He was a devoted son, father, brother, and grandfather that truly loved his family. He moved to Auburn, Nebraska to be closer to family when his health began to decline.  Dale passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Auburn, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of seventy-eight years, two months, and ten days.

Dale is survived by his wife Donna Mae Foster of Auburn, NE; sons: Steven (Lisa) Foster of Glenrock, WY; Kevin (Jen) Foster of Auburn, NE; Al (Bobbie) Foster of Cheyenne, WY; Preston Foster of Billings, MT; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara Ann Hayner, an infant daughter Tonya Foster, and a sister Delores Hill.

 

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Auburn, Nebraska with Father Carl Millis officiating.  

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
