John Scoggins
Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton
McAlester , Oklahoma

John Henry Scoggins, 77, of McAlester, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Mission Village Living Center in Horton, Kansas.

He was born on July 28, 1939 in McAlester, Oklahoma the son of Paul and Ruby Williams Scoggins.

John graduated from McAlester High School in 1957 and then enlisted with the U.S. Army Air Force and served with the strategic air command in Vietnam. He worked for the KATY Railroad as a chief crew dispatcher until he retired. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in McAlester, Oklahoma and transferred his membership to the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Independence, Missouri.

On April 6, 1962 he married Vivian Brummett. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2001.

Survivors include, three sons, John Paul (Lori) Scoggins of Wamego, Kansas, Jean (Jodi) Scoggins of Kansas City, Missouri and Fleet (Barbara) Scoggins of Muscotah, Kansas; one brother, Jean P. Scoggins of McAlester, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Wyatt (Katie) Scoggins, Sydney Scoggins, Lane Scoggins, Tess Scoggins and Evan Scoggins.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the North Town Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma.
