Maxine Zula Lundin, 90, of Topeka, KS, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.

She was born April 9, 1926 in Delia, KS the daughter of Jacob E. “Bill” and Florence M. (Stout) Murback. Maxine attended grade school in rural Delia and Mayetta. She graduated from Mayetta High School in 1944. On February 14, 1946 Maxine married Erick “Swede” A. Lundin in Holton and was blessed with 62 years of married life. Swede preceded her in death on February 28, 2007.

She had lived in Topeka until 1961 and worked as a clerk/typist for Topeka Supply Depot and Forbes Air Force Base, both through the civil service. From 1961 – 1979 Maxine had lived in Delia; she was a member of Delia United Presbyterian Church and served as elder and church treasurer and was active in the youth group and women’s group, she also served 4 terms as Delia City Clerk. She moved to Ft. Worth, TX from 1979 – 1985 and was an active member of the Trinity Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In 1985 she returned to Topeka and was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church and served as moderator of the Women’s Circle and also served on the Board of Deacons.

Maxine was a devoted loving wife, daughter and niece to five aunts and two uncles, including their spouses. She enjoyed preparing family dinners. Although she had no nieces and nephews on her side of the family, it warmed her heart to be called “Aunt Maxine” by her caring in-laws and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday morning. Burial will follow in the Mayetta Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Central Presbyterian Church or Heartland Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
