Lowell K. Morrill, 82, Nortonville, formerly Ozawkie, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at a Topeka hospital.

He was born March 13, 1934, at Summerfield, the son of Claire Francis and Daisy B. Cameron Morrill. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.

Lowell was a construction superintendent for Tom Martin Construction in Shawnee. He had worked at the company for 40 years.
Lowell enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting. He was a member of Red Dale Camping Club at Perry.

He married Rosie Noll, Jan. 5, 1957. They divorced. He married Betty Lee VanFleet, Dec. 4, 1980, at Miami, OK. He was preceded in death by a son, James Van Fleet.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; two daughters, Karen (Tim) Dengel, Olathe, and Patricia Evans, Camdenton, MO; a son, Gregory VanFleet, Lenexa; a sister, Norma Mason, Valley Falls; a grandson, whom he and Betty raised, Zachary VanFleet, Meriden; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday.
