Barbara Kendall died peacefully August 18, 2016 at a Wathena, Kansas healthcare facility following a brief illness.

She was born to Joe and Zola (Moser) Scott August 29, 1935 in Troy, Kansas.

A farm girl all her childhood, it wasn’t until her family moved to Elwood, Kansas in the mid-1950’s that she would meet her future husband.

Odis Kendall was introduced to Barbara by his cousin, Jean Liechti. Barbara and Jean were friends and 1955 graduates of Elwood High School. After a year of courtship Odie and Barb were married May 4, 1956 at the First Baptist Church of Elwood.

Aside from a brief six years, Barbara lived her whole life in various parts of Doniphan County, Kansas. 30 years were spent in Elwood. During that time she was the local Avon Lady and faithfully served her customers for two decades.

Barbara enjoyed many arts and crafts but was most enthusiastic with her quilting. She participated for many years in a quilting circle at Evolution United Methodist Church.

She cherished the times spent with her beloved grandchildren, great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. During the holidays her home was always open to family and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Odis; two brothers Jerry and Alva.

She is survived by 3 sons: Thomas (Joan), St. Joseph, Missouri; Silas (Cynthia), Platte City, Missouri; Edward (Lisa), St. Joseph; 1 daughter: Sharon, Lecompton, Kansas.; 5 grandchildren: Sara (Joshua); Rachel; Selina; Derek; Bailey and 1 great-granddaughter: Eloise. 2 sisters: Katherine Givens, St. Joseph; Beverly Richardson, Elwood; 1 brother: Paul (Linda), Wathena

Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 22, 2016. At the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, Kansas. Visitation: 6-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home, where friends may call after 9 A.M.
