Elmer L. Feldkamp, 86, of Baileyville, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Life Care Center of Seneca. 

Elmer was born September 23, 1929, on a farm southwest of Seneca, the son of Frederick and Dorothea Olberding Feldkamp. He attended the Sherman Country School and graduated from Baileyville High School in 1947. 
He served in the United States Army from March of 1951 to March of 1953 at Camp Carson in Colorado and discharged at the rank of Corporal. After his service he returned to farming in the Seneca and Baileyville area. In 1964 he became the postmaster in Baileyville and retired in 1992 after 28 years of service.

He married Kathleen Hammes on May 12, 1953 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. Of this union three sons were born, Lynn, Joseph, and Keith.  Their infant son Joseph died on April 1, 1959 and Kathleen died on July 26, 1963. After his wife’s death, Elmer and his sons moved into Baileyville. Elmer married Audrey Deters on November 11, 1965 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville.  Audrey and Elmer lived in Baileyville and raised their four children, Lynn, Keith, Janell and Dan.  Audrey died on August 15, 2011.

Elmer was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville and served on the Church Council for many years.  He was instrumental in the organization of the Rural Water District #2 of Nemaha County and the organization of the Baileyville Improvement District.  He was also very active in the Right to Life of Kansas organization and devoted a lot of time to the pro-life cause.  He enjoyed playing cards, tinkering with and fixing nearly anything, and after Audrey died, he took up cooking and gardening. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends and always maintained a positive outlook on life. 

Besides his two wives and son, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leander on September 12, 2008, Conrad on December 3, 2003 and Lloyd on May 28, 2010; and two sisters, Carmelita Koch on January 24, 1997 and Cynthia Koch on March 26, 2014.
Survivors are his sons;  Lynn (Rene) of Wichita, Keith (Alicia) of Sacramento, CA and Dan of Wichita; a daughter Janell (Joe) Lilley of Spring Hill, KS; two brothers, Raymond Feldkamp of Manhattan and Richard Feldkamp of Baileyville; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson on the way.
The rosaries will be prayed on Friday, July 29th at 2 & 7 PM, at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Ed Oen C.P.P.S., at 10 A.M. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. Burial will be in the church cemetery next to his second wife, Audrey.
