Marvin "Minnie" Elkins
Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton

Marvin "Minnie" Elkins, 86, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016 at his home. 

He was born on August 22, 1929 in Brainerd, Minnesota the son of John and Gani Gunderson Elkins. Minnie served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard, Battery B 2D Battalion 130th Field Artillery until he retired. He then went to work for the Horton and Hiawatha Greenhouse's. He was a member of the Horton First Christian Church, Hiawatha Elks and the Horton American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, working in his shop at his home and spending time with his family. 

On December 14, 1958 he married Leone Potter in Hiawatha, Kansas. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include his daughter, Angie Heaton of Horton, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. 

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Burial with Military Graveside Rites will be at the Horton Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Minnie Elkins memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
