Helen Krstolic, 103, Atchison, KS, formerly of Kansas City, KS, died Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Mount St. Scholastica Dooley Center. 

Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Mount St. Scholastica Monastery with Fr. Denis Meade, OSB as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, from 9:45 until 10:30 AM at the monastery.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mount St. Scholastica Monastery and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom the final arrangements have been entrusted.  Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Helen was born January 17, 1913 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Louise (Cop) Laurich.  She lived in Wyandotte County, KCK on Strawberry Hill; a “tight” Croation ethnic neighborhood in walking distance from church and school.  

She and Anthony Krstolic were united in marriage on June 27, 1936 in Kansas City, KS.  Tony preceded her in death on February 27, 1974 after 37 years of marriage.  

Helen was “Rosie the Riveter” at the Fairfax district in KCK building B-25s.  She was a housewife and homemaker. She loved to cook and she could cook very well.  Her meals were simple, yet simply delicious.  Her povatica and strudels, apple and cheese, were to die for.  She was a very hospitable person and everyone was welcome in her home and greeted with “Are you hungry? Can I get you anything?” 

Survivors include her daughter, Sister Constance “Connie” Krstolic, OSB, Atchison, KS, and a sister Lillian Beasley, Kansas City, KS. 

She was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers.
