Carolee DeVorss

Carolee DeVorss was born June 9, 1940 to Paul A. and Sara Kathryn (Creevan) Hutton in Seneca, Kansas.  She attended grade school at Baileyville, KS and junior high and high school in Seneca, Kansas.

  She and Harold Howard were married in 1959.  They were blessed with four children, Diane, Laura, Steven and Dana.  She and Harold later divorced.  In 1990, Carolee and Ronald W. DeVorss were married and she gained Ron’s large family, brothers, sisters, and lots of cousins.  Ron had six grown children and as time went by there were sixteen grandchildren: Carlin, Kayla, Travis, Rick, Dalton, Katie, Erica, Cody, Andre’, Petra, Nicholas, Zackary, Diana, Amanda, Megan and Josh.  Carolee enjoyed watching them grow into young adults.    

  Carolee was employed by the Nemaha Natural Resources District as District Clerk.  She worked at the Pawnee City NRCS office and later at the Syracuse NRCS offices, completing 30 years.   After Ron’s death in January of 2012, Carolee moved to Pawnee City, Nebraska.   

   She passed away on June 19, 2016 at BryanLGH Medical Center West in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 76 years.

  Carolee is survived by her daughter, Diane Graham and husband Tom of Beatrice and Steven Howard of Verdon and special friend Karen and her daughters, Kelsie and Camille, granddaughter Nichole Jared and husband Joey of Verdon and their children, Ava and Braxton.   

  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gerald and Lynn Hutton, infant daughter, Laura and daughter Dana Petty and son-in-law, Jamie, grandson, Steven Babuich and husbands, Harold E. Howard and Ronald W. DeVorss.    

  A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Christian/ Presbyterian Church 801 G Street in Pawnee City, Nebraska with Rev. Eric Biehl officiating.   A register book will be available at the Wherry Mortuary in Pawnee City on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.    Memorials may go to the family’s choice.   Inurnment will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.    Online condolences may be left @ www.wherrymortuary.com.
