Lilah B. Sprowl

Lilah B. Sprowl, 71, of Hiawatha, died late Wednesday evening, May 25, 2016, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital where she had been admitted earlier in the day.

Lilah was born at Holton, September 28, 1944, one of two children born to Harold and Edith Godlove Brenner. She was a homemaker.  Lilah did not drive and after her husband’s death, you would see her walking downtown, good weather or bad.  Once you met her, you were friends for life.

Mrs. Sprowl was a longtime member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Hiawatha.

She married Charles R. Sprowl, May 30, 1964, at Hiawatha.  To this union, twin sons were born:  James & Patrick.  The family had lived at Powhattan a few years before moving to Hiawatha to make their home.  He died November 19, 2013.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a son Patrick Sprowl December 10, 1995.

Survivors include a son James Sprowl of Wichita; and a brother Dale (Juanita) Brenner of Olympia, WA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church, at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, with Father Dan Gardner as celebrant.  Interment will follow at St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery, Horton.

The family will meet with friends starting at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ann Church, followed by the parish rosary at 10:45 a.m..

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Brown County Humane Society, sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home.
