Catherine Mendenhall, 94, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on July 4, 1921, in rural Humboldt, Nebraska to George and Carrie (Gunzenhauser) Beutler.  She was raised on the family farm South of Humboldt where she attneded country school.  Catherine graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1938 and was looking forward to her 74th class reunion this Memorial day weekend! 

On August 3, 1941, Catherine was united in marriage to her "one true love"  Delbert Mendenhall in Santa Monica, California and then lived in Kansas City, Kansas together for over 50 years. Catherine was a blessing to her family and everyone she met! She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church and Eastern Star.  Catherine enjoyed doing all kinds of different things including gardening, tending to her flowers, playing cards, reading, and doing puzzles of all kinds! 

Catherine passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the St. Elizabeth’s Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of ninety-four years, ten months, and twenty days.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Delbert, and two baby daughters, Georgia Kaye and Carolyn Gaye.

Catherine is survived by her son Bob Mendenhall and his wife Pam of Humboldt, NE;  grandchildren: Rob Mendenhall and his wife Carmen of rural Humboldt, NE; Brandi Edelman and her husband Ronnie of Sabetha, KS; great-grandchildren: Triston and Brody Mendenhall of rural Humboldt, NE;  three step great-grandchildren: Baylen, Laeny, and Larke Edelman of Sabetha, KS; a sister Elizabeth Dunn of Falls City, NE; a nephew Mike Dunn and his wife Tami of Falls City, NE; a niece Dianne Dickson and her husband Jim of Bennington, NE; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Dean Joy officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday May 26, 2016, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska.  Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. and an Eastern Star Service will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

A graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, at the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Nebraska Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 11917 Pierce Plaza, Omaha, Nebraska 68144.
