Betsy A. Bishop, 86, of Hiawatha, passed away surrounded by her family, Monday evening, May 23, 2016, at Hiawatha Community Hospital.

Betsy was born in Topeka June 27, 1929, one of five children born to Adolph and Mary Ellen Finley Zeferjahn. She grew up in Topeka where she attended schools, later graduating from Seaman High School with the class of 1947. She worked in accounting and finance at Patrick AFB in Melbourne, FL from 1979 to 2007. Betsy has been an antique dealer for many years.

In Topeka, she was a member of the Seaman Congregational Church where she sang in the choir. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society, enjoyed attending auctions, plants, and the gift of giving to others.

She married Dewey Bishop, November 27, 1949, in Topeka. They lived in Olathe, KS, Melbourne, FL, and upon retiring, moved to Hiawatha, KS in 2007. He survives of the home.

Also surviving are her children: Tom Bishop of Auburn, KS, Patricia Clark (Phil) of Hiawatha, Ken Bishop (Rose) of Palm Bay, FL, Tara Bishop Archer (Ed) of Sebring, FL; a brother Elmer Zeferjahn of Topeka; a sister Doll Able, also of Topeka; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Kenneth Zeferjahn, Leonard Zeferjahn, and a sister Leona Applehanz.

Family and friends will gather at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, KS from 5 until 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Graveside services are planned for 1 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Half Day Cemetery, north of Topeka. Pastor Rich Lehmkuhl will officiate.
