Erryn Elizabeth Langdon

Erryn Elizabeth Langdon, 69, of Holton passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

She was born November 27, 1946 in Concordia, Kansas the daughter of Elson "Sparky" and Myra (Freeburg) Landis.

Erryn graduated from Courtland High School in 1964. She graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in 1969. She later continued her education at Fort Hays graduating in 1973 with her Master’s of Science Degree. She also studied learning disabilities at Kansas University. Erryn taught business education and yearbook at Courtland High School and Frankfort schools.  She taught Special Education in Onaga and Jackson Heights schools.  After retirement she was a substitute teacher for area schools.         

Erryn was fortunate to work with missionary travels to Eastern Kentucky, Mexico, Thailand and Joplin, Missouri.  She was active in Evangel United Methodist Church and was a member of the DJ’s Sunday School Class. She also a sponsored trips with youth groups from the church and sang in the choir. Every summer, Erryn attended Summer Assembly at Forest Park in Topeka, KS. Erryn was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Pilot Club both in Holton.

She married William Langdon on November 19, 1977; he preceded her in death in 1997. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.

She is survived by: her daughter, Merriam Elizabeth Langdon of Holton, KS; her sister, Eve M. Landis of Topeka, KS; her brother Millard E. Landis (Ethel) of Independence, KS; and her grandson, Evan Landis.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.  Friends are invited to a fellowship luncheon, at Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton, immediately following funeral services. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.  The family will greet friends Monday evening from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Midland Hospice House, Evangel United Methodist Church or Summer Assembly at Forest Park and may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
