Juantia J. Hanika

 Juantia J. Hanika, 87, passed away on February 25, 2016 at Falls City, NE.  She was born June 11, 1928 at Falls City, NE to the late Edwin and Lena (Brecheisen) Oberst.

She married E.W Hollens, Jr. in 1946 and had one son, Steve Hollens, before later divorcing.  She then married John Hanika in 1952 in which they also later divorced.

Juanita was raised in rural Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1945. After high school, she attended Midland College in Fremont, NE and then went on to graduate from Peru State Teachers College. She taught in rural schools for six years, worked at Lassiters Men’s Clothing Store in Falls City for three years, and worked at Frontier Trailer Factory/Aztec as a bookkeeper for 25 years. She then moved to Lincoln, NE and worked for Weather Craft Roofing as their office manager. She retired in 1993 and returned to Falls City where she has lived ever since. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary for 60 years and was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and former Immanuel United Methodist Church.

cNE. Grandchildren, Nancy Holliday and her husband Kevin, Becky Goltz and her husband Danny, Teresa Hardy and her husband Brian, and Scott Hollens, thirteen great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bob, Virgil and Kenneth Oberst, and sister, Mildred Pflaum.

Services will be Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend John Hogue officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Monday from 7-8 P.M. at the Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
