Sean A. Mahoney, 49, Folsom, California died peacefully Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Mercy Hospital, Folsom, California.

Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  A rosary will be recited on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 6:00 P.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation with the family to follow until 7:30 P.M.  Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society or to masses at the church.  Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Sean was born December 19, 1966 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Carol Melnychuck Mahoney.  He attended St. Benedict’s Elementary School, graduating in 1985 from Maur Hill Prep School.

Sean served with the United States Army from October 1985, stationed in Bamburg, Germany until his honorable discharge in April, 1989.

He formerly worked in the dietary department of Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas until moving to California where he worked in the energy efficient home industry until his death.

Survivors include three sons, Sean A. Mahoney, Jr., Liberty, MO; Nicholas R. Mahoney, Liberty, MO; Alexander Mahoney, Sacramento, CA; his mother, Carol Thomas and step-father, Larry Thomas, Atchison, KS; maternal grandmother, Nancy Melnychuck, Haddonfield, NJ; two brothers, Leo J. (Daniela) Mahoney, IV, Manassas Park, VA; Stephen Zachary Mahoney, Los Angeles, CA; a granddaughter, Carrera Mahoney, Liberty, MO, a nephew, Leo J. Mahoney V, Manassas, VA, a niece, Jessica Mahoney, Los Angeles, CA; also aunts, uncles and cousins in New Jersey.
