Walter James “Jimmy” Lund, 95, of Holton, KS formerly of Mayetta, KS passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Medicalodge Jackson County. He was born June 2, 1920 in Mansfield, MO the son of Ernest and Minnie Etta (Pease) Lund.

Jimmy graduated from high school in Mansfield, MO. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII.

Jimmy was a farmer in Mayetta for over 30 years before moving to Holton in 1991. He was a member of the Mayetta Methodist Church.

Jimmy married Esther Gentile in 1945; she preceded him in death in 1965.  He married Iris “Maxine” Johnson on December 14, 1965 in Miami, OK; she preceded him in death on September 27, 2015. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Esther Jones and 2 brothers, Arthur and Paul Lund.

Survivors include his daughter, Joanne Day of Hoyt, KS; step-daughter, Neva Harris (Butch) of Topeka, KS; step-son, LeRoy Galster of Holton, KS; 4 grandchildren, Samuel Day of Topeka, KS, Carol Eakin (Dennis) of Delia, KS, Becky MacIntosh (Rob) of Hoyt, KS and Amy Ross (Jason) of Hoyt; step-grandson, Eddie Harris of Topeka, KS and 4 great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Kurtis MacIntosh and Delaney and Weston Ross.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Mayetta Cemetery.
