Betty Rose Johnson, 88, of Falls City, NE, passed away December 29, 2015 at Falls City. She was born February 26, 1927 at Cherryvale, KS to the late Joseph and Mary (Garcia) Fernandez.

On October 5, 1953 she married Virgil Johnson at Lenexa, KS.

Betty Rose was raised at Cherryvale and moved to Kansas City, MO to live with her sister in 1943. She was a waitress and also worked as a clerk in a drug store. She retired in 1972 after 23 years. The couple moved to Falls City in 1993 and has lived here since.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil of Falls City, sons, Richard Van Buskirk and his wife Chris of Grandview, MO, Virgil Johnson, Jr. and his wife Rochelle of Fairway, KS, daughters, Victoria Baer and her husband Emil of Topeka, KS, Georgia Ann Cloughley and her husband Louis of Roeland Park, KS, ten grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters and six brothers.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Father Thomas Dunavan officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.

Open visitation will begin Thursday afternoon, friends may pay their respects on New Year’s Day from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM
