Carrie E. “Billie” Hood, 99, Atchison, Kansas, died unexpectedly at her daughter’s home on Friday, December 25, 2015.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Michael Strickland officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Creek Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be at the church on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral. Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com

Billie was born June 12, 1916, in Alexandria, Virginia, the daughter of Charles and Pearl McDaniel. She attended school in Alexandria. 

She and William Claude Hood were united in marriage on September 10, 1937, in Falls Church, Virginia. Mr. Hood preceded her in death on April 22, 1987. 

Carrie was a member of First Baptist Church.  A stay at home Mom, Carrie, in her spare time she enjoyed cooking, canning summer vegetables for the winter, doing craft projects, sewing for her children and organizing her home.  She even participated in a talent show at her church and displayed her talents on the harmonica.

Survivors include a daughter, Claudia J. Taylor, Topeka, KS and her twin daughters, Carrie Herrman and Michaela Herrman, and great grandchild,Tatum Punches, child of Herrman and the child of her deceased son, Gary Hood, Beorn Courtney and great grand children Rowlynn Laipply and Marlowe Laipply.

Carrie was predeceased by her husband William Hood, an infant son at birth, Robert Wayne Hood and son, Gary Hood in 1973 and fourteen siblings.
