Mary Hundley

Mary Frances Hundley, 78, of Sabetha, passed away October 10, 2015, after a brief illness.

She was born on August 1, 1937, in Sabetha, Kansas, the oldest of four children, to her parents John W. Gilbert and Helen Hazel Holdren. She attended Sabetha High School. She married Joseph L. Hundley on January 21, 1953, at Hiawatha, Kansas. Mary Frances attended NorthRidge Church at Sabetha, Kansas. She was a past matron of the Sapphire Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She and her husband Joe owned and operated Hundley Motor Service in Bern. Mary Frances also worked at Mize Howser and Company Certified Public Accountants in Topeka. After moving back to Sabetha in 1999, she worked for Remmers Decorating. She also volunteered at NorthRidge Church.

Mary Frances was an avid gardener and loved working outside in her yard. She taught her children to be independent and strong but was an anchor and sounding board. She loved Christ, her family and friends. She prayed daily for her loved ones.

She is survived by her husband, Joe, of the home; one son, Johnnie (Margaret) Hundley of Sabetha; four daughters, Betty (Bill) Hecht of Seneca, Pam (Martin) Murphy of Lawrence, Mary Helen (Darryl) Hoppe of Sabetha, and Martha (Joseph) Dalinghaus of Baileyville; her two sisters, Rosalie Geneske and Linda Gudenkauf; one brother, John David Gilbert and 15 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, October 14, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. Graveside service will follow at the Sabetha Cemetery.
