Ronald L. Thonen, 78, of Circleville, KS passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at Holton Community Hospital. He was born December 23, 1936 in Horton, KS the son of Roy and Helen (Grannell) Thonen.

Ronald graduated from Whiting High School in 1955. After high school he proudly served in the United States Navy for 4 years. Ronald was a bulldozer operator for himself and Floyd Ford of Wetmore, KS. He was a farmer and stockman for most of his life. Ronald later was a bus driver for Jackson Heights Schools, USD 335, for 10 years.

He married Rosemary L. Hollander on June 23, 1959 in Bremerton, WA. She survives of the home. Other survivors include 3 daughters, Cindie L. Hysten of Whiting, KS, Terri L. Yamashita (Clay) of Topeka, KS and Karen L. Thonen of Circleville, KS; a son, Mark L. Thonen (Angela) of Circleville, KS; a sister, Nita Douglas of Plattsburg, NY; 2 brothers, Kenneth Thonen and Michael Thonen both of Topeka, KS; 2 granddaughters, Christine and Emily Tappan and 4 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jade, Reese and Zavier.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Ann Thonen in 1961 and a son, Warren D. Thonen in 1969.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Inurnment will be at a later date.
