Connie J. Torrez, 66, of Hiawatha, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, August 25, 2015, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha.

Connie was born at Horton, November 26, 1948, one of three daughters born to David and Betty Atkeson Fahrmeyer and was a lifelong Brown County resident. Her family lived in Robinson where Connie grew up and attended Robinson schools.

She married James Torrez, June 5, 1979, at Hiawatha.  They lived most of their married life in Hiawatha until later years when his health failed where they moved to Tri County Manor in Horton to live.  He died June 12, 2014.  Shortly after his death, Connie moved to Maple Heights to live to be near her sister and her family.

Connie was also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister Brenda Fahrmeyer.

Survivors include a sister Bette Rebant (Carl) of Hiawatha; their family: Jeremiah, Crystal Haws (Matthew), Tyler, Tanner; and five great-nieces

Graveside Memorial Services are planned for 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2015, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation which may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.
