Loretta A. (Sells) Scheitel, 72, of Rulo, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, NE. She was born to Dick & Catherine (Schulenberg) Sells on December 20, 1942, the oldest of seven children.

Loretta was born and raised in Rulo. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1960 and began working for her parents at the Rulo Elevator. She continued to work at the elevator even after it was sold to Robinson Coop and Ag Partners, retiring in 2004. She married Virgil Scheitel on June 1, 1963 and together had three children, all raised on the family farm in Rulo. She continued to live on the farm until the time of her death.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rulo, Catholic Daughters of America, VFW Auxiliary, and the Rulo Altar Society, serving as president for many years. She was an avid sports fan, attending many events in Falls City and the surrounding area, especially those of her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was a strong supporter of Sacred Heart activities, attending most if not all, home junior high and high school events. Loretta could be found and heard cheering on the Irish. She supported all the area youth of the Falls City community and loved to watch Husker volleyball. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was always there for anyone and didn’t know a stranger.

She is survived by her three children, Ann Severin and her husband Steve of Falls City, Todd Scheitel and his wife Lisa of Plattsmouth, NE, and Phil Scheitel and his wife Gina of Falls City. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kayla, Melissa, Lane, Logan, Brandon, and Aiden and three great grand-children, Emma, Luke, and Zoey. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Kirkendall of Rulo and Delores Holtz of Falls City and her brothers Don Sells and his wife Kate and Tom Sells and his wife Dina, both of Rulo. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Scheitel in 1983, her parents Dick and Catherine Sells, a sister Patricia in infancy, and a brother Mike Sells.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rulo with Father David Oldham as the presiding priest. Internment will be in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

A Parish Rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home in Falls City. Family will receive friends following the Rosary.

A Catholic Daughters Rosary will be recited on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
