LeRoy C. Loy, 92, Valley Falls, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Holton Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 26, 1923, at Chapman, the son of Charles W. and Elizabeth Mariah Lowe Loy. He graduated from Dickinson County High School in 1941.
LeRoy was a dairyman, farmer, and raised beef cattle. He worked at Rockwell International at Atchison for ten years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Valley Falls and Masonic Lodge No. 437 A.F.& A.M. at Enterprise and served on the RWD No.12 Board at Winchester.

He married Betty J. Heller, Feb. 26, 1947, at Manhattan. She died Sept. 5, 1999.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Hefty; son-in-law, Larry Hefty; a brother, Vernon Loy; and a sister, Maxine Brooks.

Survivors include three sons, Stephen (Marilyn) Loy, Polk City, IA, Douglas (Debbie) Loy, Valley Falls, Allen (Diane) Loy, Oklahoma City, OK; two daughters, Betty Ann (Gerry) Jackson, Garden City, and Jan (Michael) O’Brien, Oklahoma City, OK;  a sister, Beverly Keck, Bentonville, Ark; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

LeRoy enjoyed playing cards, planting flowers and gardens, reading, visiting friends and family, and caring for his horses.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, east of Valley Falls. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
