Elmer “Gene” Shaw, 86, of Salem, NE, passed away July 26, 2015 at Lincoln, NE. He was born September 7, 1928 at Salem, NE to the late Elmer and Rosie (Kuperschmidt) Shaw.

Gene was drafted into the United States Army on September 19, 1951 and was discharged on June 18, 1953.

He married Louise Lock and then Delores Dodge. On June 15, 1971 he married Madeline Larsen at Salem, they enjoyed 44 years together.

Gene lived most of his life in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1946. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Gene worked in Omaha at Safeway for a short time before returning to Salem where he worked for Stalder Cattle Company for 35 years until his retirement in 1992. Gene enjoyed gardening but loved fishing and was given the nickname “Fishy”.  He was a member of Humboldt VFW and Lions Club.

Gene is survived by his wife, Madeline of Falls City, daughters, Debra Lebow of Maryville, MO, Jeannie Boerger of Lincoln, son, Billie Shaw of Omaha, step-daughter, Melody (Jimmy) Dodge Stone-Williams of St. Joseph, MO, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Christine Martin, and a brother, Kenneth Shaw.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Bruce Demmel officiating. Interment will be in Maple Cemetery at Salem. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
