Goldie Hunzeker

Goldie Helena (Spier) Hunzeker, 95, of Table Rock, Nebraska was born on November 28, 1920, in Violet, Nebraska to Edwin and Vlasta (Findies) Spier. She was baptized on June 27, 1921 at the United Church of Christ near Steinauer, Nebraska and later baptized in the Presbyterian Church in Summerfield, Kansas on December 2, 1928. Goldie attended grade school in Summerfield through the fourth grade then attended country school at District 11 near Violet, Nebraska through the eighth grade. She then began helping on the family farm so her younger brothers could attend school and later worked as a maid in various houses in the area.

On January 12, 1946, Goldie was united in marriage to Norman Krikava in Auburn, Nebraska and to this union a son Stephen was born. The couple lived in Burchard until Norman died on September 29, 1947. While at the Reno Inn in Table Rock, Goldie met Lyle Hunzeker and the couple later married in Tecumseh on November 5, 1949. To this union two daughters, Becky and Stacy, were born. Goldie and Lyle raised their family in Table Rock where Goldie worked at various jobs. She worked at the Wright Grocery, Workman Grocery, Fisher Tavern, Bethel Grocery Store, and the A & E Tavern. Goldie later worked in housekeeping at the Pawnee Manor where she took in laundry and cleaned. She was a member of the Jolly Workers Club, 50 year member of the Table Rock Legion Auxiliary, and former member of the Rebekah’s Lodge #115. Goldie had a green thumb and loved flowers, especially irises, gladiolas, and African Violets. She also enjoyed sewing, grooming her yard, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Goldie passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the Pawnee Manor in Pawnee City, Nebraska having reached the age of ninety-five years, seven months, and eighteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Norman Krikava and Lyle Hunzeker, and brothers Stanley LeRoy and Lewis Spier.

Goldie is survived by her children: Stephen (Kerry) Krikava of Bismark, ND; Becky (Gary) Leatherman of Pawnee City, NE; Stacy (Tim) Fankhauser of Humboldt, NE; grandchildren: Rusty (Peggy) Kirkava of Bismark, ND; Joelle (Jason) Vanderlinden of Bismark, ND; Jenny (Dustin) Binder of Craig, MO; Sally (Patrick) Dunn of Colorado Springs, CO; Justin (Andrea) Leatherman of Smithville, MO; Mindy (Jason) Hamilton of Prairie Village, KS; Skylar (Andy) Loseke of Lincoln, NE; Rochale (Joe) Schriner of Hollister, MO; Quentin Fankhauser of Lincoln, NE; 15 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, Nebraska with Pastors Dean Joy and Howard Blecha officiating.

Visitation will be from 9a.m.-8p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, Nebraska. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the church.

Interment will be at the Bohemian Cemetery East of Table Rock.
