Nannette "Nan" Torkelson, 80, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at her daughter's home in Horton, Kansas.

Nan was born on November 17, 1934 in Sneedville, Tennessee, the daughter of Russell and Wilma Hobbs Thompson. She married Bill Wallace on July 12, 1953 in Princeton, Indiana they later were divorced and she married Herman Torkelson on December 29, 1967 in Everest, Kansas. Nan and Herman owned and operated a Bowling Alley and Liquor store in Horton before retiring. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Horton Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include her husband, Herman Torkelson of the home, Horton, Kansas; four daughters, Rachael (Gene) Gormley of Horton, Kansas, Jennifer (Barry) Russell of Platte City, Missouri, Debbie Dunagan of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Elma Wallace of Hiawatha, Kansas; son, William (Susie) Wallace III of Princeton, Indiana; three step daughters, Suanne (Jim) Hoffman of Horton, Kansas, Joanne (Jim) Burns of Overland Park, Kansas and Janice (David) Crider of Horton, Kansas; two step sons, Tom (Judy) Torkelson and Ron (Connie) Torkelson both of Everest, Kansas; two sisters, Shirley Wilson of Shelbyville, Indiana and Peggy McClellan of Owensville, Indiana; 27 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Homer Thompson and two sisters, Carolyn Zander and Evelyn Bullock, grandson, Tyson Langdon and great-great grandson, Jeffery Hedrick.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Everest, Kansas. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
