Rural Humboldt, NE

Ronald Lloyd Gould, 75, of rural Humboldt, Nebraska was born on July 4, 1939, in Humboldt to Lloyd and Ila (Kuper) Gould. Ron grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1957. After graduation, he started to work in the printing department of the O.A. Cooper Company eventually becoming manager printing for six feed mills.

On April 2, 1961, Ron was united in marriage to Bette Rist in Humboldt. To this union two daughters, Ronda and Debra, were born. The couple later divorced. As a young man, Ron played trombone with the Bob Blecha and the Bouncin Czechs for a few years. Due to growing job responsibilities and the girls’ activities he had to give it up. In 1980, Central Soya bought out Coopers and Ron was one of the lucky ones to still have a job. In 1981, he was transferred to their plant in Kansas City, Missouri where he managed the KC Printing Department which printed analysis tags and envelopes to be shipped to over 30 mills across the nation.

On August 5, 1988, Ron was united in marriage to Barbara (Rexroth) Wenzl in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1989, Central Soya was bought out and the Kansas City mill was closed. Ron finished his printing career working for various commercial printers. While working in the commercial field he was featured in an article in the Sunday magazine of the Kansas City Star on his quality workmanship. In 2002, Ron and Barb purchased a small acreage south of Humboldt and on July 1st they both retired and moved back home. After moving back, Ron got out his old trombone and joined The Happy Czechs which played for fun at nursing homes, Chamber events, benefits, ect. He loved playing with this group and singing in the community choir every year. Ron and Barb spent a lot of their time fishing until recently when Ron’s health began to decline. Ron was a member of the Humboldt Lions Club for 15 years and the United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir.

In 2007, Ron was diagnosed with chronic lymphoid leukemia. The past two years it started getting the best of him along with other health issues. Ron passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Bryan LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the age of seventy-five years, ten months, and eighteen days.
