Warren Closson, 93 of Sabetha, KS passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015. He was born on March 17, 1922 in Independence, Missouri to Clarice and Lena (Duvall) Closson. Warren graduated from William Christian High School in Independence, Missouri. After graduation, Warren worked for Remington Arms in Independence assembling ammunitions.

Warren was drafted in 1942, where he served our country courageously in the Pacific Campaign from 1942 to 1945 with the 34^th Army Combat Engineers, and in the 135^th Air Force Combat Engineers. During the war he was wounded during battle and received the Purple Heart, along with two Bronze Stars.

After the war Warren tried farming in Kansas for several years, and eventually turned to a trade he refined in the military and began working construction with Dasta Construction Company of Kansas City. Warren quickly advanced within the company and was known as the “Go-to guy, who had a passion for detail”. In 1965 Warren met Irene Nolte, whom he married the same year.

In 1982 Warren retired from Dasta Construction, as a supervisor. In retirement Warren perfected his art of woodcarvings, and enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Irene. In 2001 they moved to the Apostolic Christian Retirement Village in Sabetha, Kansas.

Warren is survived by his wife of 49 years Irene, two daughters, Diane Moore of Loveland, Colorado and Susan Closson of Boles, Arizona; his sister, Janet Culbertson of Odessa, Missouri, and his closest grandson, Joshua Closson of Conroe, Texas along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Warren is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Carter and his brother, Robert Closson. Warren is also a lifelong member of the American Legion.

Irene and Josh wish to extend their deepest gratitude to the Sabetha Hospital, and Apostolic Christian Village Nursing Home for their support and care during his final days.

A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church of Sabetha on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 10:30 am with Pastor Kelly Sipes officiating.
