Nell Lorena Hawley, 85, of Wetmore, passed away April 17, 2015 in her home she had for a short time in Holton. She was born August 30, 1929 in Bancroft, KS the daughter of Verne and Ruth Ardella (Baird) McDaniel.

Nell graduated from Wetmore High School in 1947. She had lived in the Wetmore community for most of her life. Nell worked for Luce Press Clippings in Topeka as a supervisor for 19 years. She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of the Wetmore United Methodist Church and belonged to various card clubs.

Nell married James R. Hawley on April 14, 1948 in Wetmore. He survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Russell G. Hawley (D.J.) of Conroe, TX; a daughter, Violet Hintzman (David) of Menomonie, WI; a grandson, Dana Bahnsen of Milwaukee, WI; 2 sisters-in-law, Jo McDaniel and Joyce Roush both of Topeka, KS; a brother-in-law, Lloyd “Punk” Hawley of Council Bluffs, IA and several nieces and nephews.

Nell was preceded in death by her 5 year old sister, Helen McDaniel and 3 brothers, Walter, Leonard and Raymond McDaniel.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
