William Godfred Vogele, resident of Antioch California, passed away peacefully on April 10th.  Bill was born on February 15th, 1929 in Falls City to Edward and Nellie Mae Vogele (nee Cochran).  He is survived by sons Billy Vogele, Gary Vogele, daughters Erika Vogele, Antioch, and Carla Simser, Antioch; brother, the late August Vogele; sisters Paulene Legman, of Woodinville, Washington, Nellene Bauman of Ackley, Iowa, Alyce Sickel, Falls City, Mildred Bauer, Falls City, Betty Majerus of Rulo, and Violet McTaggart of Falls City.

Bill proudly served in the US Army Constabulary Corps, Germany from ’46 thru ’48 and in the Korean War, ’50 thru ’51.  Upon returning from the war, Bill left Nebraska for California and worked on a pile driving crew until securing a job with the Charles Pfizer paint division in Emeryville, retiring after 32 years with the company.  While working a steady day job, Bill moonlighted as a musician, playing bass in country and western clubs throughout northern California. Not being one to enjoy a restful retirement, Bill returned to school and graduated with certification in refrigeration technology.  After briefly working in the refrigeration trade, he worked as a security guard until recently.

Bill was a selfless, hard-working, loving and caring father, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at Dorr & Clark Funeral Home on April 24th at 11am.  Internment services to follow at Rulo City cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.  At the conclusion of services, refreshments will be served at the Legion Hall.
