Florence A. Leonard, 97, of rural Highland, died Wednesday afternoon, April 8, 2015, at Hiawatha Community Hospital.

Florence was born near Berryton, Kansas, September 10, 1917, one of two daughters born to George and Josephine Matney.  Florence attended country school at Berryton.

She was married to Leo Leonard, December 24, 1936.  After they married, they lived on a farm near Richland, KS most of their married life, until retiring and moving to Overbrook, KS.  He died December 31, 1983.  Florence moved to Iowa Point, north of Highland in 1987.  About 5 years ago she moved to live with her son and his wife due to failing health.

Survivors include her son Darrell and his wife Carol Leonard, of rural Highland; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchild; nieces and a nephew.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her sister Myrtle.

Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at a later date, with inurnment to be at the Iowa Point Cemetery.

Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland is in charge of arrangements.
