Leslie M. “Les” Molt, Sr., 65, Atchison, Kansas, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 8, 2015.

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Gabriel Landis, OSB, officiating. Interment will follow in the Alderson Cemetery, Atchison, Kansas.  A parish rosary will be recited Monday, April 13, at 6:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church with visitation to follow until 7:30 P.M.  Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict Catholic School to aid in his grandchildren’s education or to the Atchison Humane Society and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom the final arrangements have been entrusted.  Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Les was born February 17, 1950 in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Leslie and Mildred Petesch Molt.  He attended the Sacred Heart Grade School, Maur Hill Prep School and graduated from Atchison High School in 1968.  

He and Patricia “Patty” Kiesling were united in marriage on June 27, 1970 at the Sacred Heart Church in Atchison.  

Les started his employment in sales with the Pruessner Ford Company and continued his career with Unit Rail Anchor, Phalen’s Motor Company and Blish Mize Company.  He then worked with his sons at Molt Electric for seven years and most recently worked for Urban Lawncare in Atchison.

He was a member of the St. Benedict Parish, Atchison, Kansas, and the Knights of Columbus, Council #723.

Les had many hobbies throughout his life.  He enjoyed hunting, flying model air planes and was an excellent swimmer.  He had a love for animals, especially his dogs, KU Basketball and spending time with his family.  

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia “Patty” Molt of the couple’s home in Atchison, two sons, Leslie (Patricia) Molt, Jr., Atchison, KS, Eric (Amie) Molt, Atchison, KS, one brother, Jim Molt, Atchison, KS, one sister Sharon Blakley, Atchison, KS and four grandchildren, Macie, Michele, Adam and Adison.  

He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Wagner.
