Elmer D. Stalder, Jr., 92, Atchison, Kansas died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at his residence.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, April 6, 2015 at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home from 10:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M.   Interment will be at 12:30 P.M. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas with Rev. Wendy Van Houtan officiating.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to V. F. W. Pallbearers for Elmer’s funeral service will be Darrell Van Houtan, Leslie Van Houtan, Dennis Van Houtan, Mark Van Houtan, Richard Knutsen and Jim Smith.

Elmer was born March 24, 1922 in Dearborn, Missouri the son of Elmer D. Stalder, Sr., and Anna Belle Bays Stalder.  He attended school in New Market and Edgerton and Quinn School in Platte County Missouri and Spring Grove School in Doniphan County Kansas.

He was drafted into the United States Army serving his country from 1946 in Korea in the occupation forces until receiving his honorable discharge in 1947.

He left the farm in 1952 and went to work for Locomotive Finished Materials Company in Atchison and then to Kansas City for four years at Bacon & Guston Fiber Glass Company and the Grodick Furniture Company.  He then returned to Atchison where he became employed with the We-Mac Company part time as a truck driver and then full time remaining with them for twenty years until his retirement in 1981.
He and Roxie Ellen Foy were united in marriage on March 25, 1972 at the First Christian Church in Atchison, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife Roxie Stalder of the couple’s home in Atchison, four step sons, Darrell (Rebecca) Van Houtan, Warr Acres, OK, Leslie (Rosa) Van Houtan, Yukon, OK, Dennis (companion, Adella Bierbaum) Van Houtan, Atchison, KS, Mark (Cindy) Van Houtan, Yukon, OK, a step daughter, Karen McGee, Atchison, KS, eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and expecting a great-great grandchild very soon, a cousin, LouAnna Williams , Dearborn, MO and many nieces and nephews.
Elmer was predeceased by a sister.
