Kathryn Altamaye Heckman McKay Ackermann, 101, of Highland, KS passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Highland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, in Highland, KS.  Kathryn was born September 26, 1913 in Kansas City, KS to Theodore Arthur Heckman and Matie Mae Parker Heckman.  She attended and graduated Highland High School in 1931.  She was a member of the Highland Christian Church.  She married Joseph Merle McKay in 1934.  She lived most of her life in and around Highland, KS.  Joe and Kathryn were in business together operating a car dealership, a Western Auto store, and the Royal Blue Supermarket for over 25 years in Highland.  After their retirement, Joseph and Kathryn spent their winters in Texas.  Joseph McKay died in 1976.  She married Albert Ackermann in 1981.  Kathryn truly enjoyed being with all her grandchildren, playing cards, and lived her life as an example to those around her.  She was always positive about life and made everyone around her happy with her smile.  She was preceded in death by Joseph McKay, Albert Ackermann, her parents, 2 son-in-laws, Larry Whetstine and Samuel Twombly.  Survivors include a son, Donald Dee McKay of Donna, TX, daughter Kathleen Ann Twombly of Highland, KS, and special daughter-in-law Carol McKay of Blue Springs, MO, 5 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Community of Christ Church at Fanning, KS.  Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Highland, KS.

Friends may call at the Chapel Oaks Funeral home in Highland, KS after 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2015 where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. that evening.
