Norbert John “Ike” Broxterman, 86, of Seneca, formerly of Soldier, died January 25, 2015 at Crestview Nursing and Residential Living in Seneca.

Ike, as he was known, was born on September 10, 1928, in Baileyville to Joseph H. and Bernadine C. Voet Broxterman. He attended school in Baileyville, and graduated from the 8th Grade. He moved to Summerfield and raised livestock; in 1954, he purchased a farm in Soldier, where he continued to raise livestock. His mother lived with him, until her death. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning; and was a former member of the church council. He enjoyed planting and harvesting his crops, and those of his friends; he was always ready to lend a helping hand to help others in need. Ike enjoyed attending rodeos, family gatherings and his morning coffee visits in Soldier.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Vincent Broxterman; four sisters, Norene Bauer, Mary Montgomery, Esther Broxterman and Odelia Sudbeck.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
